After venturing into the cave, you all came across Cedric. In the commotion of retrieving the book, Barthandelus executed Cedric before much could be said or done.
It was clear to all of you that Cedric posed no physical threat, though he was part of The Branded. And that Barthandelus decided to be judge, jury and executioner on the spot or was given an order that no one is to come out alive.
After it happened he turned to the party and asked
" This is what happens when you try to take on the Church. A lesson you four should learn today "
He rips the book out of the hands of whoever was holding it (Gorbash or Fleury I can't remember) and storms off.
You can do a bit of roleplaying below here if you want for directly after the encounter.. Barthandelus left immediately so there's no interaction with him.
XP
Party XP: 2550 / 4 = 638xp each
Individually you all should have some gold. Remembering a few gems in the first encounter, and some in the second if you got one of these you can spend them on equipment before setting off on the next journey. Please post what you intend to buy

Book was ripped out of Fleury's hands, as Barthandelus leaves the room...
*Fleury looks at Gorbash and whispers so only he can hear,
"Is it me or am I the only one that feels we are not getting the whole truth from Barthandelus?
His actions and behaviour is not what I expected from a church representative.
Either way, let's keep our eye on him..... and each other for that matter."

Locke to everyone
" I do not agree with the slaying of the defenseless " motioning to the new corpse of Cedric.
" I will not work for the church or anyone in their employ. "
Looking at the rest of the group " You have fought well today, even though it wasn't exactly the battle I was hoping for. You three will always have my sword "

*Fleury Nods at Locke in agreement and states..
"I for one am not interested in working for the Church either but but their dealings have caught my eye and we shouldn't abandon them altogether we need to keep someone close to them in order to find out what else is going on."
*Fleury thinks to himself for a moment...
"What if I continued to work for the Church at least at night I can maybe sneak around and find more clues to their work and more important if the corruption runs deeper than we originally believed?"
*Fleury looks to the group for approval

Locke replies
"Subterfuge and sneaking are not my strong suit. I will offer any assistance I can however I am not one to keep my jaw shut so I will keep my distance."
"Putting yourself in danger of both CoJ and the churchs wraiths.. Fleury you impress me again"

Miragil nods in agreement
"Whether we agree with what went on back there or not, from both perspectives it would be beneficial to gain the Church's confidence."
/ooc you'll have to more specific about treasure gained because as far as I know Miragil got 0 treasure and 0 items from the second adventure. I made note of the xp gain on her sheet.

*Fleury reaches into his pocket and shows the group 3 Gems worth 30 gold each and 1 Gem worth 50 gold.... Fleury Sells the gems at the nearest market and divides the gold equally between Miragil, Locke and Gorbash...
Works out to be 140 gold / by 4 people 35 gold each. Enjoy Boys!
